RAMALLAH, Monday, December 10, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas is going to hold a series of urgent contacts with Arab and international parties in order to ask them to shoulder their responsibilities towards the serious Israeli escalation in the form of incursions into Palestinian cities and the continuation of settler crimes and desecration of holy sites.

The Presidency said in a statement on Monday that important and crucial decisions will be taken in the event of the continuation of Israeli incursions and attacks against the Palestinian people in the Palestinian cities, the latest of which took place today in the city of Ramallah, especially the storming of official headquarters.

Dozens of heavily armed Israeli soldiers raided WAFA news offices in Ramallah on Monday and fired teargas inside the building causing suffocation and difficulty in breathing among the journalists who were inside it. The soldiers also harassed the journalists and forced them to stay in one room.

The Presidency expressed its strong rejection and condemnation of the ongoing incursions into the Palestinian territories, which exceeded all boundaries in a way that can no longer be tolerated, pointing out that these incursions are a flagrant violation of all signed agreements and accordingly the leadership is going to make a final assessment of the situation in order to take the necessary measures and decisions that will protect and serve the interests of the Palestinian people.

The Presidency once again warned the occupying Power, Israel, of the seriousness of the continuation of such attacks.

Meanwhile, Saeb Erekat, Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), condemned the Israeli army raid into WAFA offices.

He said that "Israel‘s aggression on media and official Palestinian institutions is a deliberate and reckless campaign led by the Israeli government and its army against the people of Palestine with the absolute support of the Trump Administration."
