SALFIT, May 16, 2025 (WAFA) – For the second consecutive day, Israeli occupation forces and colonists have continued their wide-scale attacks on Palestinian residents and their properties in towns and villages across Salfit Governorate, in a serious escalation targeting the area.
Nazmi Al-Salman, an activist against the wall and settlements, told WAFA that large numbers of Israeli soldiers and police forces were deployed around the house of Yasser Hatem Abu Zaid, after colonists threw a Molotov cocktail at his home, located on the outskirts of Deir Istiya near the town’s main entrance, in an attempt to set it on fire. The house shelters a family of more than 13 members, including women and children.
In a related incident, colonists torched more than 14 Palestinian vehicles near the Ariel industrial settlement, as part of the ongoing wave of attacks targeting residents’ properties in the area.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces conducted a large-scale raid in the town of Kafr ad-Dik, west of Salfit, during which they assaulted residents, carried out extensive searches of homes, and detained several citizens.
For days, Salfit Governorate has been witnessing a dangerous escalation by Israeli occupation forces and colonists, involving the closure of main and secondary roads, bulldozing of land, raiding of homes, and systematic targeting of residents and their properties as part of a collective punishment policy aimed at forcibly displacing them and expanding colonial settlements in the area.
Updated at 2:12 p.m. (local time): Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces continue their incursions into the towns of Kafr ad-Dik and Bruqin, west of Salfit.
Local sources reported that the occupation army set up military checkpoints in the center of Bruqin, imposed a curfew, and detained several young men.
Israeli foot patrols were also deployed on the outskirts of Kafr ad-Dik, following a series of house raids and detentions carried out last night.
