RAMALLAH, Monday, December 10, 2018 (WAFA) – The meeting of Fatah Consultative Council, which met in Ramallah on Sunday night and chaired by President Mahmoud Abbas, received front page coverage in the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on Monday.
The three papers highlighted what the president said regarding the need to implement the decisions of the Central Council regarding defining relations with Israel and the United States.
Al-Ayyam highlighted on the drive-by shooting attack near Ramallah last night in which nine Israeli settlers were injured while the attacker was able to get away.
It quoted Fatah official Azzam al-Ahmad saying that two papers by Hamas on reconciliation were rejected in total.
It said physicians in the West Bank have declared a two-hour strike on Sunday to protest a new law that affects them, stressing that more protests will be carried out in the future.
Al-Quds reported on this as well but made a story about the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meeting in Saudi Arabia as its main front page story. It said the GCC reiterated its firm support for the Palestinian cause.
The paper also said dozens of Palestinian homes in Silwan, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, were damaged as a result of the ongoing Israeli digs under their homes.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli forces raided the home of Jerusalem governor, Adnan Ghaith, in Silwan and took measurements of the house, which is usually a prelude to preparing it for demolition.
It quoted Fatah official Jibril Rajoub stressing support for the Palestinian prisoners.
The papers also reported on the situation in south Lebanon following Israeli claims of discovery of tunnels that lead into Israel.
