President Abbas: Measures to be taken with regard to Israel, US, Hamas

RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 09, 2018 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas said during a speech late Saturday evening that measures will be taken as far as the relationships with Israel, the United States and Hamas are concerned.

In his opening remarks of the “International Conference on strengthening the role of the private sector in governance and combating of corruption” in Ramallah, the President said: “There are three measures with Israel, America and Hamas, and what we want to do now is to take a series of decisions that we must take.”

“For the Israelis,” he said, “we told them that we want to amend or cancel the Paris Agreement. They [the Israelis] responded, We will give you the answer after two, three or four days. Two days later, the Israeli army minister, who we were talking to, resigned and now we do not know who we are talking to.”

He added, “As for America, they [the Americans] have asked us not to join 18 international organizations. But after the US decision on Jerusalem, we decided to gradually accede to these organizations, and indeed we acceded to the Universal Postal Union.”

The President continued, “For Hamas there are a lot of issues between us that we will follow in order to ensure the interests of our people.”
