Factions call for rallies on Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People

RAMALLAH, Saturday, November 24, 2018 (WAFA) – The National and Islamic Forces in Ramallah, a coalition of the major Palestinian factions, called on Saturday upon Palestinians to take part in a rally on November 29, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, at the United Nations offices in Ramallah.

They said the rally is intended to stress the need for the immediate implementation of international resolutions on Palestinian rights.

The United Nations General Assembly, in its 2 December 1977 resolution, has declared the day the General Assembly has adopted resolution 181 (II) on 29 November 1947 partitioning Palestine into two states that paved the way for the creation of Israel and the dispersal of the Palestinian people from their historic homeland as a day of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Since 1977, the UN has been observing the annual International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People with events held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

This year’s events will include, in addition to the annual General Assembly debate on the Question of Palestine, which will be held on November 30, the opening of a photo exhibit: “70 years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – Palestinian Nakba” at the UN Headquarters.
