Israeli forces close two entrances near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, June 18, 2025 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation forces closed two entrances to the town of Tuqu', southeast of Bethlehem, on Wednesday.

Tuqu' Municipality Director Tayseer Abu Mufreh told WAFA correspondent that the occupation forces installed an iron gate at the entrance to Khirbet al-Deir, which leads to the town of Jannata. They also placed earth mounds at the entrance to the Sha'b al-Sane' area inside the town, almost completely disrupting the movement of residents.

Abu Mufreh noted that a colonist blocked the entrance to Tuqu'-Jannata yesterday with cement blocks, while the occupation forces reinforced the closure by placing large boulders in the area.

He added that since the start of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, the occupation has installed approximately 10 iron gates at the entrances to the town and its neighborhoods, in a move aimed at tightening the siege imposed on residents and restricting their daily movement, whether towards Bethlehem or the neighboring villages.

The number of barriers and iron gates installed by the occupation army in the West Bank reached 898 military barriers and iron gates, including 18 iron gates installed by the occupation since the beginning of the current year 2025, and 146 iron gates installed by the occupation after October 7, 2023, according to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
