Israeli navy detains three Palestinians off Gaza

GAZA, Friday, November 23, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli navy on Friday detained three Palestinian fishermen while sailing off the Gaza Strip, local sources said.

Naval boats attacked a Palestinian fishing boat sailing within the allowed six-nautical-mile zone off Gaza and arrested three fishermen who were onboard.

The three were taken to an unknown destination.

Since the beginning of the year, Israeli navy detained more than 60 Palestinian fishermen in violation of previous agreements allowing fishermen to sail up to six miles, and sometimes nine miles, into the sea of Gaza.

According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), all Israeli attacks on Palestinian fishermen have taken place within the distance of six nautical miles, which it said “proves that Israeli forces‘ policies aim to tighten restrictions on the Gaza Strip‘s fishermen and their livelihoods.”
