CARACAS, July 31, 2018 (WAFA) – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro congratulated on Tuesday Ahed Tamimi, the Palestinian civil protest icon teen, who was recently released from Israeli jail after serving eight months for slapping an Israeli soldier at her home.
Maduro said that Tamimi’s detention was unfounded because she has bravely resisted the Israeli occupation forces.
“Venezuela would like to take this opportunity to express support for Palestinian struggle for freedom and independence,” Maduro said. “We reaffirm our support for the struggle of the Palestinian people to end the occupation and to recognize East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.”
