Israeli army detains 52-year-old Palestinian mother

QALQILYA, February 7, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israeli army  detained on Wednesday a 52-year-old mother from Qalqilya, in the north of the West Bank, Palestinian sources said.

Nuha Shawahne, whose two sons, Orwa and Sharhabeel Shawahne are prisoners in Israel, was detained after she, along with her husband and son, answered an army summons to appear before police at the illegal Ariel settlement.

Omar Shawahne, an attorney and son of the detained woman, told WAFA that Israeli police in Ariel summoned his father, Taher, mother, Nuha, and brother, Abdul Karim, on Tuesday for questioning at the Ariel police station and that after interrogating them until late at night, his father and brother were sent home while his mother was detained.

He said the Israeli military set Thursday as the date for his mother to appear at a military court near Jenin in the north of the West Bank without explaining the reason for her detention and court.
