JERUSALEM, January 17, 2018 (WAFA) – In a step seen as unprecedented, Israeli police allowed on Wednesday Jewish fanatics to perform religious rituals in the yards of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, Islamic Waqf official Firas al-Dibs said.
A video showed Jews praying in the compound during visit hours while police stood by doing nothing to stop them.
Muslim Waqf officials have expressed concern at this change in Israeli policy regarding non-Muslim visitors to the Muslim holy compound in Jerusalem.
Israeli police prevented on Tuesday Waqf officials from doing reconstruction work in the mosques and threatened workers of arrest if they carry out any work in the mosque or any of its facilities.
Jordan, in its capacity as custodian of the holy places in occupied East Jerusalem, has also criticized the Israeli police intervention in the internal affairs at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
