Palestinian sustains injury from Israeli army gunfire near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, May 9, 2025 (WAFA) – A Palestinian on Friday evening sustained an injury from Israeli army gunfire in the town of Tuqu, southeast of the occupied West Bank city of Bethlehem, according to local sources.

Mustafa al-Badan, an activist, said that the occupation forces stormed the town and fired volleys of tear gas and concussion bombs towards the citizens’ houses.

Taysir Abu Mifreh, Director of Tuqu‘ Municipality, said that the gun-toting soldiers opened fire at a 19-year-old youth, injuring him in the foot.

The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.

These raids are conducted without the need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.

Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
