GAZA, May 9, 2025 (WAFA) — Several Palestinians were killed and others wounded today as Israeli occupation forces launched a series of airstrikes and artillery attacks on various areas across the Gaza Strip, according to local sources.
In Gaza City, 23-year-old Diyaa Jihad Tayeh succumbed to injuries sustained in a previous airstrike that targeted Al-Karama School in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood. Another civilian was killed in an Israeli drone strike in the Tel Al-Hawa area, south of the city.
In the southern governorate of Khan Younis, civil defense teams recovered the body of 3-month-old Mohammed Hisham Shehab from beneath the rubble of his family’s home in the neighborhood of Al-Zannah, which was bombed two days ago. The infant’s parents were killed in the same attack, and his two siblings were wounded.
Also in Khan Younis, a Palestinian identified as Baraa Majdi Al-Agha was killed and several others injured when an Israeli drone targeted a group of civilians near the Islamic University.
In Rafah, at the southernmost part of the Strip, Israeli forces detonated several residential buildings in the city center, causing extensive destruction to civilian properties.
In northern Gaza, Israeli artillery shelled the outskirts of Beit Lahiya, causing significant property damage and widespread panic among residents.
Additionally, 22-year-old Ahmad Al-Sayyed Salout was pronounced dead after succumbing to critical injuries he sustained three months ago when Israeli forces bombed his family home in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 52,760 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 119,264 others injured.
Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.
Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
