OIC welcomes UN General Assembly resolution on Palestine's participation in its 81st session

JEDDAH, September 18, 2026 (WAFA) - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution allowing the State of Palestine to participate in its 81st session via a pre-recorded message, following the illegal decision by the United States to prevent the Palestinian delegation from participating in person, in violation of its internationally guaranteed rights.

The OIC affirmed that the support of 152 countries for the resolution reflects the international community's commitment to the State of Palestine's right to participate and its respect for international law and the obligations of the host country.

It called on the United States to reverse its decision, which contravenes the UN Headquarters Agreement, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions.

The General Secretariat reiterated its commitment to continuing its active engagement in the General Assembly meetings and the High-Level Week on Supporting the Rights of the Palestinian People, expanding recognition of the State of Palestine, and achieving its full membership in the United Nations.
