President Abbas reaffirms rejection of proposals to forcibly displace Palestinians

MOSCOW, May 9, 2025 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday afternoon reaffirmed rejection of all proposals to forcibly displace Palestinians.

President Abbas made his remarks during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, on the sidelines of the Victory Day in Moscow.

He briefed the OIC Secretary General on the efforts aimed at halting Israel’s genocidal aggression on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem.

He affirmed that the priority for the Palestinian leadership was to halt the Israeli aggression and ensure not only the entry of urgent humanitarian aid into all parts of the besieged Strip, but also Israeli forces’ full withdrawal from the Strip and enable the State of Palestine to assume its responsibilities to secure the return of displaced people to their areas in the Strip and commence Gaza reconstruction.

He extended his appreciation to the OIC for its positions in support of the Palestinian people and their just cause until they realize their right to establish their independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

OIC Secretary General Taha reiterated the OIC’s support to the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, condemned the Israeli aggression, and stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause to the OIC.

He affirmed the need to halt Israel’s genocidal aggression on Gaza, and considered the establishment of the independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the cornerstone of stability in the region and the whole world.
