JERUSALEM, January 3, 2018 (WAFA) – In clear violation of understandings between the Israeli police and the Muslim Awqaf authority, Jewish fanatics performed on Wednesday a marriage ritual inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s old city, according to an Awqaf official.
Israeli police has so far barred non-Muslims from carrying out any activity inside the Muslim holy site, specifically religious rituals, and to confine their visit to a tour of the site.
Firas Dibs, media official in the Awqaf, which is in charge of the Muslim holy sites and property in Jerusalem, said the Jewish fanatics performed the marriage ritual under the eyes of the Israeli police, who provides them with protection.
Police bars Awqaf officials and guards from intervening to stop violations by Jewish fanatics of the status quo at Al-Aqsa Mosque and often arrests anyone who tries to stop them or ban them from being in the walled compound for days and weeks.
