RAMALLAH, October 30, 2017 (WAFA) – The Israeli military authority is still holding an Egyptian citizen in jail even though he has completed his prison sentence more than a year ago, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Monday.
It said Ahmed Salameh Sawarkeh was released from prison three months after ending his seven-and-a-half year sentence on September 10, 2016.
However, when he was taken to Erez/Beit Hanoun crossing to be expelled to Gaza, the Israeli military at the checkpoint refused to let him into Gaza and therefor he was taken back to jail, where he is still held until today, said the PPS.
Sawarkeh was arrested in March 11, 2009 when he was in the Palestinian territories.
