JERUSALEM, August 24, 2017 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday detained a total of 29 Palestinians and assaulted another in overnight raids that triggered clashes across a number of West Bank districts, said Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and security sources.
Israeli border police raided Dar al-Aytam Islamic Secondary School in Jerusalem’s Old City, detaining two students for allegedly throwing stones at police and spreading panic.
PPS said border police detained four Palestinians after storming their homes across East Jerusalem.
This came as Israeli forces detained a Palestinian after storming his home in a predawn raid into Jerusalem-district Abu Dis town.
In Bethlehem district, Israeli forces raided Tuqu town, detaining a Palestinian and ransacking two homes.
Forces also raided Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, where they detained 15-year-old and 17-year-old boys after breaking into their family home.
PPS said three other Palestinians were detained in other raids across Bethlehem district.
In Hebron district, forces detained a Palestinian and ransacked a home during a raid into Beit Awwa town, southwest of Hebron city.
Another Palestinian was detained during a similar predawn raid into the neighboring village of Beit Khel.
During a subsequent raid into Beit Umar town, north of Hebron, troops leading tracking dogs broke into at least three homes, wreaking havoc into their contents.
Troops also thoroughly searched a Palestinian home and stores and seized about 100,000 Israeli shekels ($28,000) in Hebron’s Abu Sneineh neighborhood.
PPS said two other Palestinians were detained in similar raids across Hebron district in the southern West Bank.
Meanwhile, four Palestinians were detained in separate raids into Kufr Eni and Beit Liqya, northwest and southwest of Ramallah.
In the northern West Bank, troops detained a Palestinian young man in a predawn raid into Tulkarem refugee camp.
Three former Palestinian prisoners were re-detained during similar raids into Jalqamous village and Jenin refugee camp in Jenin district.
Meanwhile, Israeli troops assaulted a Palestinian as he documented a military raid into Tubas city using a video camera.
The Palestinian, identified as mayor of Wadi al-Maleh area, was rushed to Tubas Government Hospital for treatment.
In the meantime, four Palestinians, including a 17-year-old minor, were detained during a raid into Karl Hares village, west of Salfit.
