Italy’s foreign minister to visit Palestine on Wednesday

ROME, March 14, 2017 (WAFA) – Italy’s Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano will hold talks with Palestinian officials when he arrives in Palestine on Wednesday, a statement by the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Alfano will meet with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Malki in Ramallah after which the two will hold a press conference.

He will also meet with President Mahmoud Abbas.

“During his visit, Foreign Minister Alfano will confirm Italy’s intention to contribute to rebuilding the political horizon for a two State solution, the only road considered to be viable, while expressing Italy’s commitment to support the resumption of direct negotiations between the Parties,” said the press statement.

Alfano will first land in Israel where he is scheduled to meet with Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, before travelling to Ramallah in the afternoon for meetings with Palestinian officials.
