Israeli airstrike targets area near Syrian presidential palace in Damascus

DAMASCUS, May 2, 2025 (WAFA) — Israeli warplanes launched a pre-dawn airstrike on Friday targeting an area adjacent to the Syrian presidential palace in the capital, Damascus, in a move described by Israeli officials as a direct message to the Syrian government.

A spokesperson for the Israeli occupation military confirmed the strike in a brief statement on X. Also in a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Army Minister Israel Katz declared the strike to be "a clear message to the Syrian regime," without providing further details.

The Syrian government has not yet issued an official response to the attack, and there are no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
