RAMALLAH, February 5, 2017 (WAFA) – The temporary block on US President Donald Trump’s immigration ban targeting seven Muslim countries was the focus of the Sunday issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds said the US administration complied with the decision of a US federal judge who temporarily blocked Trump’s immigration ban.
The paper said thousands of people marched against Trump in several European countries. Another headline said a US poll showed that Trump is the worst president among presidents in the history of the US.
Al-Ayyam said that while Trump is angry, he promised to appeal the decision. The story included a photo of people marching against Trump’s Muslim ban in London.
Reporting on Palestinian developments, al-Ayyam said that Israeli forces closed three roads near Ramallah and Bethlehem, while al-Hayat al-Jadida said that soldiers closed two agricultural roads in al-Khadr, and another road that links several villages northwest of Jerusalem to the city of Ramallah.
According to al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida, settlers attacked several areas in the West Bank near Ramallah and Hebron.
Al-Ayyam said that one Palestinian was injured during settlers’ attacks. It also said that several others, including children, suffered from tear gas inhalation in the village of Rumana, west to Jenin.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israel handed over body of Hussein Abu Gosh, 24, a Palestinian who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers when his vehicle crashed into an Israeli bus station near “Adam” settlement, east of Ramallah on January 25th.
Both al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Israel finished the construction of a new extension of the apartheid wall in the district of Hebron.
Al-Ayyam said six Palestinian families from Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley are struggling to survive after Israel gave them a deadline to leave their land.
The three dailies reported that Palestinians in Israel and in Ramallah commemorated the “International Day of to support Palestinians in the 1948 land” in the city of Qalanasawe. According to al-Ayyam, thousands of Arabs and Jews marched in Tel Aviv against Israel’s racist policies towards Palestinians.
