RAMALLAH, March 13, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on Israeli raids on Beit Lahia, north of Gaza, which killed two Palestinian children.
They said two Palestinian children, Yasin Abu Khousa, 10, and his sister, Israa, 6, were killed and their brother was injured when Israeli fighter jets bombed a location in Beit Lahia on Saturday.
The dailies also focused on the public teachers‘ decision to end their strike which lasted for more than a month.
Al-Quds reported that schools reopened, following an initiative by President Mahmoud Abbas to improve pay for teachers.
The three dailies said a Hamas delegation arrived in an attempt to mend relations with Egypt.
Al-Ayyam and al-Quds reported that Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement achieved new successes in spite of Israel’s political pressure.
Al-Quds said University College London, one of the most prominent universities in the UK, has joined the BDS movement.
Al-Ayyam quoted the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, which said that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu asked French President Francois Holland to shut down satellite channels that broadcast “inciting” material.
Al-Quds reported that Netanyahu had thanked France for halting the broadcasting of al-Aqsa TV, a Hamas-run satellite channel.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported that the International Federation of Journalists has condemned Israel’s violations against journalists and the freedom of press.
Al-Hayat Al-Jadida and al-Quds reported that the Higher Monitoring Committee for Arab Citizens in Israel announced a general strike to mark the fortieth anniversary of Land Day.
Al-Quds reported that settlers have taken over an Islamic Waqf-owned land in the village of al-Qouja, to the north of Jericho in the Jordan Valley.
