RAMALLAH, March 1, 2016 (WAFA) – Clashes that took place late Monday night in Qalandia Refugee Camp, north of Jerusalem, between Israeli troops and Palestinians made headlines in the Palestinian Arabic dailies on Tuesday.
The dailies said fierce clashes erupted between Israeli army and Palestinians in Qalandia, shortly after undercover Israeli troops who raided the camp, were exposed and attacked, before hiding inside the camp’s cemetery.
The three dailies, including al-Quds, said the Israeli army detained two Palestinian brothers, Nasser and Akram Badawi, in Hebron, whom Israel accuse of carrying out a number of sniper attacks against Israeli soldiers over the past few months.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said President Mahmoud Abbas called for a greater European role in the political [peace] process.
Al-Ayyam said public teachers in the West Bank are continuing their strike in protest of receiving unrewarding salaries.
The three dailies said Fatah movement called on public teachers to end their strike and return to work.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth which said that an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and Turkey will be reached within the next few days.
