JENIN, February 23, 2016 (WAFA) – At least three Palestinians were injured by rubber-coated steel bullets, while dozens others suffocated by teargas fired by Israeli troops during clashes in the blockaded town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, according to medical sources.
The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) said that clashes erupted between Israeli troops and Palestinian youths in Qabatiya, where the former used rubber-coated bullets and tear gas canisters to disperse the youths, shooting and injuring at least three of them and causing dozens others to suffocate.
The town has been blockaded by the Israeli army for two consecutive days, following the army’s fatal shooting of a Palestinian teenager from the town. Israel claimed the teenager, Qusai Abur-rub, had attempted to attack Israeli soldiers near Beta junction to the south Nablus, before he was gunned down.
This is the second time in less than a month Israel Blockades the town of Qabatiya. On February 6th, the Israeli army lifted its three-day blockade of the town of Qabatiya, which it imposed in the aftermath of a fatal shooting and stabbing attack carried out by three of the town’s locals in Jerusalem. The attack claimed the life of an Israeli female soldier and wounded another.
Earlier Tuesday, clashes broke out between Palestinian locals and Israeli troops during a military raid into the city of Nablus. During the clashes, at least seven locals were shot and injured in their lower extremities by either live or rubber baton rounds.
Another local was reportedly run over by an Israeli military jeep, leaving him with minor head injuries.
