Israel’s Blockade of Jenin Town Continues for 2nd Day

JENIN, February 23, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli army continued on Tuesday their tight blockade on the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, and denied entry and exit of local Palestinians into and out of the town, according to security sources.

Israeli troops also raided and searched a number of homes in Qabatiya and sabotaged their furniture, while turning others into military outposts.

At least one Palestinian was detained by the army and many others were  summoned to appear for interrogation before the Israeli intelligence.

The town has been blockaded by the Israeli army for two consecutive days, following the army’s fatal shooting of one of the town’s locals. Israel claimed the teenager, Qusai Abur-rub, had attempted to attack Israeli soldiers near Beta junction to the south Nablus, before he was gunned down.

This is the second time in less than a month Israel Blockades the town of Qabatiya.

On February 6th, the Israeli army lifted its three-day blockade of the town of Qabatiya, which it imposed in the aftermath of a fatal shooting and stabbing attack carried out by three of the town’s locals in Jerusalem. The attack claimed the life of an Israeli female soldier and wounded another.
