NABLUS, February 23, 2016 (WAFA) - Israeli forces overnight and early Tuesday detained 19 Palestinians from a number of West Bank districts, said security and municipal sources.
In Nablus district, large Israeli troops raided and wreaked havoc into several Palestinian homes in the Nablus neighborhoods of Balata, al-Ayn, and Askar refugee camps as well as Kafr Qallil village, south of the city, before detaining at least nine locals.
The detainees were identified as ‘Ala Mansour, Ward Abu Rezeq, Ahmad Sallaj, Shaher An-Najmi, Maher Khattab, Muhammad ‘Abdul-Rahim, Muhammad Hanoun, Akram al-Bi‘a, and Muhammad Mashal.
Troops reportedly opened live fire and rubber-coated steel bullets as clashes erupted with local youths who confronted them, shooting and injuring eight youths.
This came several hours after troops stationed at Za‘tara Israeli military checkpoint, south of Nablus, stopped and detained a Palestinian identified as Riyad Hashash, in his 30s.
Meanwhile, forces detained six Palestinians during predawn raids across the northern West Bank district of Jenin.
Forces raided Ya‘bad town, southwest of the city, where they detained Ihab Fahmawi, 22, 50-year-old blind man Majd ‘Amarna, after breaking into and searching their houses.
Forces also stormed and searched the family houses of Muhammad ‘Amarna and Hasan Rabay‘a and interrogated their occupants. They also seized a vehicle belonging to ‘Amarna.
This came as forces summoned a number of Palestinians and detained a male from the blockaded Jenin town of Qabatiya. The detainee was identified as ‘Abdul-Hamid Samadi.
During the raid, forces stormed a number of houses, including the family house of Ashraf Zakarneh, who reportedly had been previously shot and injured by Israeli army.
Furthermore, forces raided Meithalun, a town to the south of the city, where they detained two Palestinians identified as Kefah Rabay‘a and his cousin, Muhammad.
Forces also stormed Sanur village, southwest of the city, where they broke into and searched the family houses of Omar al-Dulab and Fathi Jarrar.
Soldiers torn apart a copy of the Koran during their raid into Jarrar’s home. Another local identified as Sa‘id Kmail was also detained by the army in the Jenin area.
In the meantime in Bethlehem district, forces detained a Palestinian identified as Muhammad Khallaf, 26, after raiding and searching his family’s house in Ad-Doha town, west of the city.
Another Palestinian was also detained as he attempted to cross al-Nashnash Israeli military checkpoint at the southern entrance of al-Khader town.
The man was identified as Saber al-Sous, 24, a local from the Hebron town of Dura.
In the southern West Bank district of Hebron, forces detained a Palestinian as they raided As-Samou‘ town, south of the city. The detainee was identified as Jebril al-Hawamda, 24.
