Dailies Highlight Israel’s Handing over of Bodies of 3 Killed Palestinians

RAMALLAH, February 23, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Tuesday focused on Israel’s handing over of the bodies of three Palestinians, who were shot dead by Israeli troops in recent weeks, to their families for burial.

They said Israeli authorities handed over the bodies of Mansour Shawamreh, 20, and Omar Amr, both from the village of al-Qubebeh, northwest of Jerusalem, in addition to the body of Khaled Taqatqa, 21, from the village of Beit Fajjar near Bethlehem.

Both Shwamreh and Amr were fatally shot in mid February after they carried out a shooting attack in Bab al-Amoud area in Jerusalem, whereas Taqatqa was shot dead on February 19th during clashes with Israeli forces to the south of Bethlehem.

On a different subject, al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Israel ruled that Yusef Haim Ben-David, who murdered Palestinian teenager Mohammed Abu Khder, 16, in 2014, is mentally fit to stand trial for his actions.

Al-Quds said Israeli authorities informed Palestinians in Kherbet al-Fekhet, a village south of Hebron, about their intention to demolish 12 Palestinian-owned structures in the village.

Al-Ayyam said Israeli army closed with earth mounds all entrances to Qabatiya town, south of Jenin, following the fatal shooting of a local Palestinian teenager by the army.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said ac further deterioration occurred on the health of journalist Mohammad al-Qiq, who has been on hunger strike for at least 91 days in protest of being detained by Israeli authorities without a charge or trial.

The dailies said the Palestinian Teachers’ Union has submitted its resignation, while public schools’ teachers in the West Bank continued their large-scale strike in protest of receiving unrewarding salaries, despite.
