JENIN, February 22, 2016 (WAFA) – A number of Palestinian teenagers were on Monday injured by rubber-coated steel rounds, during clashes with Israeli forces in Qabatiya town, south of Jenin, according to medical sources.
The Palestinian Red Crescent told WAFA that clashes erupted between teenagers and the Israeli army on the town’s outskirts, where Israeli troops have been deployed for an ongoing offensive against the town.
During the clashes, the soldiers used rubber-coated ammunition to disperse the teenagers, injuring many of them. They also used teargas canisters and stun grenades, causing multiple cases of suffocation among the protesting teenagers.
The town has been under a tight blockade by the Israeli army since last night, following the fatal shooting of a Palestinian teenager from the town by the army. The teenager had reportedly attempted to attack Israeli troops near Huwara village, south of Nablus.
