Israel Detains 15 Palestinians in West Bank

HEBRON, February 22, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces last night detained at least 15 Palestinians during raids across the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

In Hebron, in southern West Bank, Israeli forces broke into the city and detained four Palestinians after raiding and searching their homes. They were identified as Udai Sharabati, 21, Nour Tamimi, 21, Abdur-Rahman Ramadan, and Khairi Abu Hadid.

Israeli forces also detained Munjed Sharif, 21, Tamer Masharqa, and Munther al-Hih, 21, in Hebron district.

Israeli troops further stormed the nearby town of Beit Ummar, where they detained the imam of Beit Ummar’s main mosque, 57-year-old Mohammad Aadi, who is reportedly suffering multiple health problems.

Soldiers also handed Aadi’s son, Osaid, a notification to appear before the Israeli intelligence in nearby Gush Etzion military compound.

In Jenin, in northern West Bank, Israeli troops broke into the town of Kafr Ra’i, southwest of the city, and detained Ahmad Mustafa al-Atrash, 32, after raiding his house and sabotaging its furniture. Soldiers also seized his and his wife’s mobile phones.

Another Palestinian from Jenin, Saber Rabbou, was detained by the Israeli army while he was attempting to cross Za’tara checkpoint, south of Nablus.

Also in Jenin district, Israeli troops stormed the town of Jaba, where they raided the homes of Ammar Hammour, a prisoner in Israeli jails, and Nemer Alawneh, a local Palestinian. Alawneh was not present at his home at the time of the raid.

Israeli troops further detained Ahmad Mohammad Hassan, 25, in Salfit city, in central West Bank; Imad Subuh, 32, in Qalqilia district; and Mohammad Deriya, 19, in the village of Beit Fajjar near Bethlehem.

In Jerusalem, Israeli police 16-year-old Mohammad Abder-Ra’ouf Mahmoud after raiding and searching his family house in al-Issawiya, a northern outskirt of Jerusalem. He was taken to a nearby detention center.

Another Palestinian, 18-year-old Omar Za’anin, was also detained by Israeli police in Jerusalem.
