BETHLEHEM, January 21, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces overnight detained 18 Palestinians and shot and injured five others during predawn raids into several West Bank districts, said security and medical sources.
Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians from Bethlehem district, six from Hebron, three others from Tulkarem and one from Tubas.
In the southern West Bank district of Bethlehem, Israeli forces detained four Palestinians, including the wife, mother and brother of a detainee, as they raided al-‘Aruj village, east of the city.
Forces detained Rab‘a, 27, Fadda, 52, Ja‘far, 29, and Muhammad al-‘Arruj, 30, after breaking into and ransacking their family houses in the village.
They detained two other Palestinians as they raided Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem. The detainees were identified as Suhaib, 22, and Khalid Thawabteh, 17.
Furthermore, forces raided Ad-Duheisha refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, where they detained two Palestinian young men.
Large troops raided the camp, firing stun grenades, tear gas canisters and bullets, turning several houses into military outposts.
Forces also detained Mufti al-Masri, 20, and Anas Abu Dayyeh, 21, after storming and wrecking havoc inside their family houses, triggering clashes with locals.
WAFA reported on Muhammad Aby Rayyan, Deputy Director of Ambulance and Emergency at Palestinian Red Crescent Association, as saying two Palestinian young men sustained injuries after being shot with live rounds in the thigh.
The two injured men, who remained unidentified, received first aid treatment at the scene before they were rushed into two Beit Jala hospitals; their condition were described as stable.
Meanwhile in Hebron, Israeli forces detained six Palestinians, mostly during predawn raids into Hebron’s Old City and several towns.
The detainees were identified as Mahmoud al-Qadi from Surif town, northwest of Hebron, ‘Issa Makhamra, 25, from Yatta town, south of Hebron, Muhammad Warasna, 25, from Ash-Shuyukh town, northeast of Hebron, Amir Ad-Darawish from Dura town, south of the city, and Akram Badawi, 33, from Hebron’s Old City.
During the raids, troops ransacked and tampered with the contents of the family houses of the detainees and broke into al-Murabitun mosque in the southern neighborhood of Hebron.
Earlier, troops stationed at Beit ‘Einun junction, northeast of the city, detained a Palestinian purportedly for holding a knife. The detainee was identified as Ja‘far al-Jabarin, 19, from Sa‘ir town.
In the meantime in the northern West Bank district of Tulkarm, forces raided Danabah for the second consecutive day and detained three Palestinians.
The detainees were identified as ‘Ammar ‘Anbas, 26, ‘Ala Barqawi, 32, and Samer ‘Abdul-Haq, 28.
During the raid in Danabah, forces broke into multiple homes and questioned some of the occupants.
Meanwhile, a Palestinian was detained and three others shot and injured during clashes with Israeli forces across the northern West Bank district of Tubas.
Forces detained Ahmad Masa‘id, 21, after breaking into and ransacking his family house in the city.
