HEBRON, January 12, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli armed soldiers Tuesday shot dead two young men at the Beit ‘Einun junction, northeast of Hebron in the southern West Bank.
WAFA correspondent said Israeli soldiers opened fire at two Palestinians near the junction. Soldiers surrounded one of the two men and prevented Palestinian ambulance crews from approaching the scene, leaving him to bleed to death.
Citing an alleged stabbing attempt in the area, Israeli military said in a statement that the Palestinian “attacker” was killed.
Israeli military sources identified the “attacker” as a “Palestinian armed with a knife” who tried to stab an Israeli soldier. No name has been provided so far.
The second Palestinian sustained critical injuries and was rushed into a Hebron hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. He was identified as Adnan al-Halayka, 17, from the Hebron town of Ash-Shuyukh, northeast of the city.
This came shortly after soldiers shot dead another Palestinian young man during clashes in the Bethlehem town of Beit Jala.
Srour Srour, 21, was hit and seriously injured with a live bullet in the chest. He was rushed to hospital with a critical health condition and pronounced dead shortly after.
This brings the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of unrest in the occupied Palestinian Territories in early October 2015 to 152. Over 16,000 others have been injured.
