BETHLEHEM, January 12, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli armed forces Tuesday killed a Palestinian youth during clashes in Beit Jala, a town at the outskirts of Bethlehem, according to security sources.
Clashes erupted between the Israeli army and Palestinian youth near the town, where soldiers used live ammunition, rubber-coated steel rounds, teargas canisters and stun grenades to disperse the protest, seriously injuring 21-year-old Srour Srour with a live bullet in the chest.
Ambulance crews described Srour’s health condition as critical and he was transferred to a nearby health center, but succumbed to wounds minutes later.
Another youth was also injured with a live bullet in his foot, while many others suffocated due to inhaling excessive teargas.
Srour is the 151st Palestinian to be killed by Israeli army since the beginning of unrest in the occupied Palestinian Territory in early October 2015. Over 16,000 others have been injured.
