Israeli Troops Open Fire on Car at Bethlehem Checkpoint

BETHLEHEM, January 12, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli troops on Tuesday opened fire on a Palestinian car as it passed through the Israeli ‘Container’ checkpoint, northeast of Bethlehem, according to local sources.

The sources said troops stationed at the checkpoint fired at least six bullets at the car, causing damages to the body. The fate of the driver and possible passengers remains unknown until the moment.

Shortly after the incident, the Israeli army shut down the major southern West Bank checkpoint, denying movement of Palestinian vehicles and causing a traffic jam.

According to the Ministry of Health, 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops since the beginning of unrest in the occupied Palestinian Territory in early October 2015. Over 16,000 others have been injured.
