JERUSALEM, January 4, 2015
(WAFA) – The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)’s Jerusalem Affairs
Department condemned on Monday Israel’s demolition of the homes of Palestinians
who were killed under suspicion of carrying out attacks on Israeli targets.
The statement came after
Israeli police filled with cement the homes of Alaa Abu-Jamal and Bahaa
Elayyan, two Palestinians who were fatally shot by Israeli troops after they
reportedly carried out attacks on Israeli targets in the beginning of the
current unrest in October 2015.
PLO also condemned Israel’s
violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, including
repeated assaults by Jewish fanatics on al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.
The department called on the
international community and the United Nations to immediately intervene to put
an end to Israel’s continuing violations against the Palestinian people, their
property and their holy sites.
Earlier this day, a large
police contingent stormed Jabal al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem and
cordoned off the homes of Alaa Abu-Jamal and Bahaa Elayyan, before they
proceeded to fill them with cement to make them uninhabitable as a form of
collective punishment.
