RAMALLAH, January 2, 2016 (WAFA) – The releasing of the bodies of
23 Palestinians whom Israel killed after they carried out alleged or confirmed attacks
against Israelis together with the Tel Aviv deadly shooting attack hit the
front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.
The three dailies reported that Israeli authorities released the
bodies of 23 Palestinians who were killed for being suspected in carrying out attacks
against Israelis, including the bodies of 17 Palestinians from Hebron.
The three dailies reported that the bodies of eight Palestinians
from Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Jenin and Tulkarem districts, along with 17 others
from Hebron, were laid to their final rest.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that a general
strike is observed on Saturday in Hebron.
Highlighting the Tel Aviv deadly shooting attack, the three dailies
reported that two Israelis were killed and seven others were injured in the wake
of the shooting attack near a Tel Aviv bar area.
Al-Quds reported in this regard that eight Israelis were injured in
the shooting attack.
The three dailies also reported in this regard that a Palestinian
man, citizen of Israel, from the town of Wadi ‘Ara has been identified as a
suspect. According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, the suspect is being hunted by
Israeli police.
Highlighting weekly Friday protests, al-Hayat al-Jadida reported
that several Palestinians, including a news reporter, were shot and injured by
Israeli forces in the West Bank areas of ‘Azzun, Kafr Qaddum, and Bili‘in, as
well as in Gaza.
The three dailies reported that, according to a new opinion poll, a
majority of Israelis feel that their country is less secure, adding that the support
for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dropped.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that over 14,000 extremist settlers forced their
way into Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, known to Jews as Temple Mount, in 2015.
Highlighting the sermon delivered by the Latin Patriarch of
Jerusalem Fuad Twal, to mark the beginning of the new year, Twal was reported
in al-Quds as saying that he would continue to pray for the sake of peace and
non-violence in the Holy Land.
Furthermore, al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that Israeli settlers,
protected by Israeli forces, attacked a Palestinian
taxi driver near the illegal Israeli settlement of Mabo Dothan, southwest of
Jenin.
Al-Quds reported on Knesset member Bezalel Smotrich as calling for
cancelling the Oslo Accords and annexing the West Bank to Israel.
