RAMALLAH, December 19, 2015 (WAFA) – The killing of three
Palestinians by Israeli forces; one following an alleged car-ramming attempt
and two during Ramallah and Gaza clashes, hit the front page headlines in the three Palestinian
dailies.
The three dailies reported in their main front page news articles
that three Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the Ramallah towns of
Silwad and Sinjil as well as in Gaza’s Khan Younes.
It is worth noting in this regard that Israeli forces shot dead
Muhammad ‘Ayyad, 21, after he allegedly attempted to ram his car into Israeli
soldiers near the Ramallah town of Silwad. Israeli forces also shot dead a
Palestinian identified as Mahmoud al-Agha, 20, during clashes that erupted near
Khan Younes in southern Gaza Strip.
The third Palestinian identified as Nash’at Asfour, 25, succumbed
to wounds he sustained after getting shot and seriously wounded by a live round
fired by Israeli forces earlier Friday during clashes in the Ramallah town of
Sinjil.
Highlighting Israeli army’s quelling of weekly Friday protests
across the West Bank and Gaza, the three dailies reported in their main front
page news articles that dozens of Palestinians were injured and detained by Israeli
forces.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that Israeli forces shot
and seriously injured a Palestinian young man in Hebron and shot and detained
another at Qalandiya military checkpoint.
Furthermore, al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Hadeel
‘Awwad, 14, was laid to her rest in the Ramallah refugee camp of Qalandiya
after her body was handed over by Israeli forces.
It is worth recalling in this regard that Hadeel was killed by
Israeli forces, along with her cousin, 16, who was shot and critically injured
following an alleged stabbing attempt in West Jerusalem on November 23.
Highlighting ongoing efforts to ensure that Rafah border crossing
remains open, al-Quds reported on senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official
Khalid al-Batsh as stating that the Palestinian factions have unanimously
agreed to solve the problem of Rafah border crossing based on the principle of non-exclusion.
It also reported that a huge rally will be staged in the Israeli
town of Kufr Kanna to protest the Israeli decision to ban a Humanitarian Relief
organization.
Moreover, the three dailies reported that a total of 177 countries
voted in favor a United Nations General Assembly’s draft resolution that
reaffirms the right of Palestinians to self-determination.
Highlighting a diplomatic crisis between Israel and Brazil, al-Quds
and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Brazil has rejected the appointment of settler
leader, Dani Dayan, as new Israeli ambassador.
Al-Ayyam reported on the Quartet envoys as having stressed the need
to de-escalate tensions and expressed their opposition to violence and incitement.
Internationally, al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that the UN Security
Council has unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the Syrian peace
process.
