JERUSALEM, July 1, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli police
and army early Wednesday banned three Palestinians’ entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque
compound, detained a Palestinian and summoned another from Jerusalem and Hebron
districts, said security sources.
Israeli police detained two female Islamic
religion teachers while they were entering Al-Aqsa Mosque compound via the Bab
al-Asbat (Lions’ Gate).
Hanadi al-Halawani and Khadija Khuwais were banned
entry into the Mosque compound for 30 days after being interrogated at
al-Qashla interrogation and detention center near Bab al-Khalil (Jaffa Gate).
Furthermore, Israeli police also decided to ban a young
Palestinian man from entering into the Mosque.
Amjad al-Basti, a resident of the Old City’s
neighborhood of Bab-Hatta, was banned entry into Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for
two weeks a day after he was detained under the pretext of confronting Israeli
settler groups that forced their way into the Mosque compound.
Besides, police detained a young Palestinian man
from inside the Mosque compound and moved him to an interrogation center. The
detainee was identified as Tamer Shala‘ta.
This came as small
groups of Jewish settlers, protected by special police reinforcements, forced
their way into the compound, provoking worshipers at the Islamic holy site.
Meanwhile
in Hebron district, forces stormed Idhna town to the west of the city, where
they summoned one Palestinian.
Isma‘il
al-Nattah, 36, an ex-detainee, was handed a notice to appear before Israeli
intelligence.
Forces
also stormed several Hebron neighborhoods as well as al-Arrub refugee camp.
However, no casualties were reported during the raids.
