RAMALLAH, June 18, 2015 (WAFA) – Talks over the formation of a new Palestinian government following the planned dissolution of the current one headed by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah hit the front page headlines in the three Arabic Palestinian dailies.

The three newspapers reported that the PLO Executive Committee would convene next Monday in order to hold talks over the formation on new government. The meeting will be attended by Hamdallah. Al-Ayyam reported that the new government would be a national consensus government.

Al-Quds reported in this regard that President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamdallah have agreed to start consultations on the formation of the new government.

Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudenieh was quoted in al-Ayyam as denying reports that Hamdallah submitted his resignation.

Covering reports about indirect exchange of ideas between Hamas and Israel with the purpose of cementing a long-term clam deal in the Gaza Strip, al-Ayyam reported on Reuters as announcing that long-term Gaza truce is under discussion as Hamas and Israel face Salafist groups.

It further reported on Hamas as denying reports that it has reached a long-term deal with Israel. It also said that other Palestinian factions are demanding Hamas to issue an official statement affirming its denial.  

Covering Israeli forces and settlers’ practices against the Palestinian people and property across the occupied Palestinian Territories, al-Quds reported that a Palestinian home was demolished and demolition orders were handed out to another six Palestinian families in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina.

It also reported that Israeli forces raided the East Jerusalem towns of al-‘Issawiya and al-‘Izariya, where they proceeded to detain several Palestinians.

It also published that dozens of Israeli settlers and soldiers forced their way into the Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

Reporting on the consequences of Palestinian administrative detainee Khader Adnan’s hunger strike, al-Quds said that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad faction has warned that it will not be committed to any truce or clam with Israel if Adnan dies.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported in this regard that the Israeli Prison Service has stopped the distribution of medications to ill Palestinian detainees and that the Israeli ‘suppression units’ stormed Ramon detention center.

It further revealed that Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention centers are subjected to serious violations and harsh treatment.

It is worth mentioning in this regard that Adnan, 37, a father of six children, has been hunger striking for 42 days protesting the Israeli practice of administrative detention.

He was detained during July 2014 and sentenced to administrative detention for the 10th time in his life. Palestinians held in administrative detention can be held without charge or trial for months or even years and are denied access to the evidence that led to their detention.

Highlighting Israeli plans to strike international Boycott, Divest, Sanction (BDS) movement, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that the Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked has taken steps to file lawsuits against BDS activists.

Al-Ayyam reported on Israeli settlers warning Meretz leader Zehava Gal-On, who submitted a bill to the Knesset requiring the labeling of Israeli settlements’ products that proceeding with this bill will lead to thousands of Palestinian workers losing their jobs in settlements.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on the Joint Arab List, a Knesset parliamentary group, as saying that BDS is a reprisal for Israeli occupation and apartheid.
