Newspaper Review: Knesset Dissolution, Threat to Storm Al-Aqsa Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, December 9, 2014 (WAFA) – The dissolution of Israeli Knesset and approval to hold general elections on March 17 and extremist settler groups’ calls to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound hit the main headlines of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.

Al-Quds

-          ]West[ Jerusalem Municipality issues demolition orders for several Palestinians’ houses in Silwan and Sur Baher.

-          Fatah Central Committee Member Azzam al-Ahmad: Egypt needs more time to prepare for the resumption of the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and reopening Rafah border crossing.

-          Islamic Jihad leader Khaled al-Batsh: The initiative to end the division is still under consultation and has not yet been presented to Fatah and Hamas.

-          Extremist settler organizations, under the umbrella of the Coalition of the Temple, call for a large scale storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the occasion of ‘Hanukkah’.

-          Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah: The UN institutions have an essential role in Gaza reconstruction.

-          ]An Israeli military court[ extends the imprisonment of 59 Palestinians, including Wael al-Hashlamon.
