RAMALLAH,
November 30, 2014 (WAFA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press statement
Sunday, strongly condemned the Jewish settlers's
late Saturday night attack on a Jewish-Arab school in the
Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Safafa as well as on a Palestinian house
near Ramallah.
Settlers,
late Saturday night, set fire to a Jewish-Arab school located in Beit
Safafa as well sprayed racist anti-Arab graffiti on its walls such
as , 'Kahane was right', and 'death to Arabs.'
The
Foreign Ministry also condemned an attack by Jewish extremists from the illegal
settlement of Pesagot, adjacent to Ramallah, on a Palestinian house in the
nearby city last night; settlers pelted glass bottles at the house and smashed
some of the windows.
Recurrent
provocative visits by Jewish fanatics to al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem were also
condemned by the ministry.
Meanwhile,
the statement held the “right-wing” government of the Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for “encouraging and financing settlers and
Jewish gangs' crimes,” in what the ministry said was a blatant disregard to
wide international criticism and condemnation of such acts.
“The
ministry is surprised by the silence of the international community against
these crimes,” the statement stressed, adding, “We call upon [the international
community] to stop the policy of double standards, as well as called on the
United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s permanent members to uphold their
responsibility in this regard.
The
ministry further urged the UNSC to support the Arab peace initiative aimed at
putting an end to the Israeli occupation and settlement construction and
expansion based on the two-state solution.
