Elderly Palestinian woman suffers tear gas inhalation as Israeli forces arrest four in Hebron

HEBRON, September 18, 2025 (WAFA) – An elderly Palestinian woman suffered from suffocation after inhaling toxic tear gas on Thursday, while four others were detained during Israeli military incursion on several areas in the Hebron Governorate.

WAFA correspondent said that Israeli troops attacked the home of the Masalma family near a military tower erected on private land in the town of Beit Awa, south of Hebron.

The soldiers reportedly fired tear gas canisters into the house and assaulted its occupants, causing the elderly woman, Zahra Masalma, to suffocate. She was subsequently transferred to a hospital for treatment, before her son, Mazhar Awad Abdul Mahdi, was detained.

Security sources added that occupation forces raided the town of Sa'ir, northeast of Hebron, and arrested Nayef Hijazi Jaradat, Nael Hijazi Jaradat, and his son, Muhammad, after searching their homes and ransacking their contents.

In the town of Idhna, to the west, occupation forces raided several homes belonging to the al-Jiyawi family, searching them and destroying their contents. However no arrests were reported.

Media activist Mohammed Awad told WAFA that Israeli occupation forces stormed the Beit Ummar municipality building in the north, detained several employees, preventing them from reaching their workplaces, seizing a drone belonging to the engineering department,

In the meantime, three employees were also handed summonses to report to the occupation intelligence.
