Al-Sheikh discusses joint French-Saudi efforts ahead of international conference on state recognition

RAMALLAH, September 18, 2025 (WAFA) – Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, met today with French Consul-General Nicolas Kassianides to discuss the latest developments in the joint French-Saudi efforts to organize the upcoming international conference on the recognition of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

The conference is scheduled to take place on September 22 in New York.

During the meeting, al-Sheikh emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to ensure the success of the conference, describing it as a crucial political milestone to strengthen recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also stressed that the support from France and Saudi Arabia represents a vital leverage to achieve this goal.
