CAIRO,
November 19, 2014 – (WAFA) – Egypt expressed Wednesday grave concerns over the
recent escalation in East Jerusalem, stated the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a
press release.
The
Foreign Ministry expressed its concerns over the recent escalating developments
and worsening situation in East Jerusalem and affirmed its rejection for all
forms of violence and provocative actions carried out for the purpose of
imposing fait accompli policy.
The
Ministry stressed that violence will only lead to more escalation in the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict as well as threatens to slip into a vicious cycle
of killings and violence, which would ultimately foil efforts to resume peace
negotiations on the basis of relevant international terms of reference.
It
reaffirmed the importance of reaching a comprehensive, just and lasting
solution to the question of Palestine based on relevant UN resolutions in a
manner that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people, ensures that the
Arab identity of East Jerusalem is maintained and leads to the establishment of
an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on June 1967 borders with East
Jerusalem as its capital.
