RAMALLAH, September 10, 2014 (WAFA)
– Palestinian prisoners, held in Israeli jails, started on Wednesday a
one-day general hunger strike in protest of the mysterious death of inmate Raed al-Jabari, who died
at an Israeli hospital on Tuesday hours after he was moved there.
Al-Jabari did not suffer from any
diseases before his mysterious death, which casts doubts on the grounds behind
his death, posing concern that torturing in Israeli prisons has
become a widely used policy per se by the Israeli Prison Authority.
The prisoners said in a leaked
letter that their strike is in protest of the aggressive Israeli policy against
them.
Head of the Prisoners’ Committee,
Issa Qaraqe, said the prisoners held the head of the Israeli Prison Authority
accountable for al-Jabari’s death.
