Palestinians Demand Tougher EU Sanctions against Israeli Settlement

JERICHO, February 11, 2014 (WAFA) – Palestinian officials Tuesday urged the president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, during a meeting in Jericho to push for tougher sanctions against Israeli settlements.

Member of the PLO Executive Committee Saeb Erekat, Minister of Tourism Rula Maʻayaʻa, governor of Jericho Majed Fityani, lawmakers Mustafa Barghouti and Qais Abdul Karim among others discussed with Schulz the latest in the peace process and political developments in the area.

The Palestinian officials pressed for tougher sanctions against settlements, which they said consolidate the apartheid system on the ground.

Shultz started Monday a visit to Palestine during which he met with President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.
