NEW YORK, May 18, 2026 (WAFA) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that the living conditions in Gaza remain extremely dire, noting that most residents are displaced and exposed to ongoing health and environmental risks, in addition to continuous attacks targeting residential areas.
In a report issued on Monday, the office said that among the trucks transporting aid from Egypt to Gaza, only one in two succeeded in unloading its cargo at the crossings controlled by Israel along the Gaza border during the first 10 days of May.
Estimates by the World Health Organization indicate that more than 43,000 people in Gaza have sustained life-changing injuries, while rehabilitation services continue to face pressure far beyond their capacity.
In the West Bank, the office pointed out that 45 Palestinian-owned structures were demolished by occupation forces between May 5 and 11. It also noted a sharp increase in colonists’ violence, with the monthly average of attacks resulting in casualties or property damage increasing fourteen-fold since 2020.
