Oil prices fall 10% after Iran announces reopening of Strait of Hormuz

 

WASHINGTON, April 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Oil prices declined on Friday evening after Iran announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping for the remainder of the ceasefire period.

Brent crude and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell below $90 per barrel.
