RAMALLAH, February 22, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate on Sunday held Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the serious deterioration in the health of freed journalist and former detainee Mujahed Bani Mufleh after his release from Israeli detention.
The syndicate stated that Bani Mufleh’s health deteriorated rapidly following his urgent transfer to Istishari Hospital in Ramallah about a month ago, just one day after his release from Israeli prisons, where he was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage.
The syndicate added that, one day after his release from a seven-month detention, he was admitted to the hospital, where his condition rapidly deteriorated. During his detention, he was subjected to deliberate medical neglect, given inappropriate medications, and endured systematic torture and starvation, leaving him in critical condition in the intensive care unit for more than a month.
The syndicate called on international institutions to launch an urgent investigation into Bani Mufleh’s case, emphasizing that it would alert all relevant organizations, including the International Federation of Journalists, to coordinate efforts to halt what it described as a deliberate and systematic attempt to endanger the lives of Palestinian journalists.
Bani Mufleh, 36, a father of three, spent seven months in Israeli detention during his most recent imprisonment.
