MECCA, February 22, 2026 (WAFA) – The Muslim World League condemned statements made by the United States ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, in which he said it would be okay if Israel took over the entire Middle East.
In a statement issued by the League’s General Secretariat on Sunday, Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa denounced the remarks as false and irresponsible, saying they represent an unprecedented disregard for regional security and the sovereignty of states, and a blatant violation of international laws and norms. He added that the statements contradict clear commitments outlined in the US peace plan.
He reaffirmed that the only guarantee for achieving the desired peace and stability in the region lies in implementing international legitimacy resolutions and appeals, including those of the UN Security Council and the New York Declaration on the two-state solution, endorsed by a resolution of the UN General Assembly, concerning the Palestinian people’s historic and established right to self-determination and the establishment of their state.
Al-Issa stressed that such a right cannot be undermined by statements lacking political responsibility.
