GAZA, February 5, 2026 (WAFA) – The Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza was reopened in both directions on Thursday morning, allowing the departure of patients and humanitarian cases, as well as the return of stranded residents to Gaza.
Raed al-Nams, spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, told WAFA that the fourth batch of humanitarian cases, including patients, wounded, and injured individuals, had been prepared.
Al-Nams affirmed that the cases departed from Red Crescent facilities toward the Rafah crossing to travel abroad for treatment.
On Wednesday, Israeli authorities prevented patients and wounded individuals from traveling through the Rafah crossing after informing the World Health Organization that the coordination for the departure of the third batch, which was scheduled to leave for medical treatment, had been canceled.
Since its reopening on Monday, the Rafah crossing has only allowed 50 patients and wounded individuals, including their companions, to leave Gaza. Seven patients and their companions departed on the first day, followed by 16 others on the second day, despite the fact that approximately 18,500 patients and wounded individuals require medical treatment abroad.
