RIYADH, February 4, 2026 (WAFA) – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for a ceasefire to be established, the occupation of Gaza to end, and the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities, ultimately leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
At the conclusion of Erdoğan's visit to Saudi Arabia, they expressed their concern regarding the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the ongoing Israeli aggression, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid and border crossings.
They stressed the importance of intensifying relief efforts in Gaza and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Strip. They also emphasized the need for the international community to pressure the Israeli authorities to guarantee the protection of civilians and adherence to international humanitarian law.
Both sides reaffirmed the vital role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in defending the Palestinian cause, and commended the work of the Arab-Islamic Contact Group on Gaza, stressing their support for the efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in providing basic services, and condemning the demolition of the agency’s buildings in occupied Jerusalem by the occupation, calling on the international community to confront these violations.
